Job Description

The Wheatsheaf is a renowned country pub and hospitality destination in the heart of the Wiltshire countryside, featuring a quality-led gastro pub restaurant, stunning orangery and eight beautifully appointed guest rooms.
Following the successful expansion and full launch of the business, we are looking for a talented Chef de Partie to join our growing kitchen team.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced chef with a strong gastro pub or fresh food background to play a key role in delivering exceptional food and memorable dining experiences.

You will take ownership of your section, ensuring consistently high standards of food quality, presentation and service while contributing to the continued success of The Wheatsheaf.

Role & Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and cook dishes in line with established recipes, specifications and service requirements.
  • Ensure sufficient stock, ingredients and preparation are available to support service demands.
  • Check dishes for flavour, seasoning and quality before service.
  • Maintain exceptional standards of food presentation, portion control and consistency.
  • Support the delivery of seasonal menus, specials and new dishes.
  • Assist with stock rotation, waste management and kitchen organisation.
  • Ensure all food hygiene, health and safety, and allergen procedures are adhered to at all times.
  • Maintain a clean, organised and efficient working environment.
  • Support junior members of the kitchen team and contribute to a positive team culture.
  • Take responsibility for the smooth running of your section and support senior chefs when required.

Qualifications / Experience:

  • Previous experience as a Chef de Partie, Line Chef or experienced Commis Chef within a gastro pub, fresh food restaurant or quality hospitality environment.
  • Strong experience preparing and delivering high-quality dishes using fresh, seasonal ingredients.
  • Excellent understanding of cooking techniques, ingredients, kitchen equipment and food preparation methods.
  • Sound knowledge of food hygiene, health & safety and allergen management.
  • Ability to work efficiently and maintain high standards during busy service periods.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • A passion for hospitality and creating exceptional guest experiences.
  • Familiarity with industry best practices and professional kitchen operations.
